The Power of Connection

“Perhaps the secret of living well is not in having all the answers but in pursuing unanswerable questions in good company.”
-Rachel Naomi Remen

Social connection directly impacts our emotional and physical well-being. Whether you identify as an introvert or extrovert (or both!), all humans are wired to crave relationships in some way.  Connection may look a bit different right now – video conferencing rather than in-person gatherings, virtual exercise classes rather than going to the gym, drive-by birthday parties – but it’s just as important as ever.

According to the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education at Stanford University, strong social connection can lead to a stronger immune system, a longer life, lower levels of anxiety & depression, higher self-esteem, and an overall more optimistic view of life.  It’s powerful, to say the least.

Connecting with others during a time when physical interaction isn’t quite as easy means getting creative!  Some of our favorite ways to connect lately have been Instagram Live sessions, team happy hours through Zoom, sending funny photos and videos back and forth, and getting excited about plans together in the future.  Who knew that there could be so many ways to connect from afar?

How about you – what are some of your favorite ways to stay connected?!
