Let's Talk About Inflammation!

Did you know that your body’s response to many (if not most) illnesses and injuries is inflammation?

Inflammation is part of the body’s natural healing system. Your body goes into an inflammatory response to help prevent injury and infection, and can also be triggered when our immune system cells are compromised.

Constant (or chronic) inflammation can occur when we regularly eat unhealthy foods, avoid physical exercise, experience frequent stress, and other behaviors that do not positively serve us.

Chronic inflammation can have a detrimental effect on our organs, joints, brain, and overall physical and mental health.

Some common symptoms of inflammation are fatigue, joint issues, swelling, mood swings, digestive issues…the list goes on.

Good news – there are many ways to help with inflammation! One of our favorites is exposure to PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields) which just happens (wink, wink) to be one of the four major elements on the BioCharger. Numerous clinical studies have demonstrated that PEMF therapy has been successful in reducing inflammation. PEMF therapy treats the cellular source of swelling by recharging the cells with a mild electromagnetic current.

A study titled ‘effect of pulsed electromagnetic field treatment on programmed resolution of inflammation pathway markers in human cells in culture‘ was done to test the impact of PEMFs on inflammation in the human body. Overall, it was found that PEMF treatment can, in various ways, decrease inflammation in human cells (we recommend reading the article for specific, scientific details!)

In addition to PEMF, there are other ways to help prevent and decrease inflammation in the body.

Here are some tips:
  • Eat anti-inflammatory foods such as fruits, vegetables, certain fish, certain nuts, turmeric, ginger
  • Avoid inflammatory foods such as sugar, processed food, fried food, alcohol
  • Move your body for at least 30 minutes every day
  • Spend time outside to get some fresh air and fresh sunlight
  • Drink lots of water (all day, every day!)
  • Practice yoga or incorporate basic stretches every day
